Changed My Very Nature Forever

Maddy A | Caregiver | Family Member |

As the caregiver to a cancer patient, my interpretation of the word “change” is first, the realization that my reliance on the idea that cancer “couldn’t happen to me or a member of my family” had been destroyed in the blink of an eye.

My experience as a caregiver, witness, defender and advocate changed my very nature forever and even though I’ve experienced an unfathomable loss, I’ve come to understand what I’m capable of doing through the sheer strength of conviction and perseverance.

My change came in the discovery of my own strength and the will to help others in gratitude for the blessings I count despite my loss.
