Healing and Caring

Jennifer P | Patient |

What is a community? To me a community is a group of people who share the same goals and who support and respect each other.

While going through cancer treatments it really does take a community to overcome the challenges that patients and caregivers face each and every day. Doctors, nurses and family members make up the community of healing and hope. Mass General has doctors that really care about their patients. Nurses help not only the patient feel at ease but also their family members.

It takes special people to work in the oncology field, people who shine hope even when it seems the odds are stacked against you.  While I was going through treatments I had two young children, a 6 year old and an infant. Each time my daughter visited me the nurses and doctors spent time to ease her fears. To me, the community of Mass General was a special place of healing and caring.
