Poem: Wish

William K | Patient |

A poem by William Kenly

Wishing for tomorrow,
Diminishes today’s pain,
Thoughts off today,
Miss today’s growth.
Wish for yourself,
Diminishes today’s pain,
Don’t like today,
Don’t like myself.
We wish for,
What is not,
We lose today,
For rose-colored tomorrow
Regret in wishes,
Pain in wishes,
Dissatisfaction in wishes,
Unacceptance in wishes.

Embrace today openly,
Wish for understanding,
Its strengthening gift,
Its calming cloak.
Wise men wish
For whatever happens.
Fools waste today
For dreams tomorrow.

Wish wisely, Friends,
For tools now,
For growth now.
Happiness lies there.
